Ford did one heck of a job hiding the ECU on my 1996 F250, I have looked all over my truck and can't find it anywhere.....
I have looked under the hood, dash, behind the glove box and removed the passenger side kick panel but have not found anything yet.
I haven't removed the driver side kick panel but it doesn't look like anything is behind it because the parking brake bracket and parking brake release is there and it doesn't look like there is enough room for anything behind it.
Have I overlooked any areas that it could possible be?
Looking for the PCM code only...I also looked in the door jam for a sticker but there is none there...I'll remove the driverside kick panel and check it out.
Ken, do you recommend one chip manufacturer over another? My truck is completely stock other than the flowmaster exhaust and I use the truck mainly for towing.
I found the PCM code it is 'ALT0'.....would you happen to have any instructions on how to get to the computer (or how to remove it) to install the chip? It is tucked in between the parking brake bracket and the inside of the truck. I can't get to the computer to change the chip out.
I've got several programs available for ALT0, shouldn't be a problem. Yes, I have instructions for installing the chip which includes computer removal and installation. Its a Microsoft Word document so I can either email that to you or if you can give me a fax number I'll fax it so you'll know what you're getting into before you start.
