my 2.0 fuel pump failed and of course it went unnoticed until too late and gas was spewing onto #1 piston crank. so to make a long story short caused rings to break scarred cylinder wall to bad to fix. i found a 2.3 fuel injected a young boy had pulled from his ranger so as to put a 302 in. i asked around and a few mechanics said that a 2.3 could be used in place of 2.0,,,i took 2.3 and stripped all fuel injection stuff off and used 2.0 manifold (carberated) and exaust manifold bolted. they bolted right up to the 2.3 block,, the only thing i had to really mess with was the 2.0 had manual fuel pump the 2.3 didnt , i bought and installed a universal electric fuel pump. it starts and runs fine just a slight problem with the idle. if i could just bring it up some,, it is too low. just wondering if any one else has done this?
Put a vacuum guage on the engine. That will tell you a lot. You may have a leak. If not, you should be able to adjust the idle up with the idle adjustment screw on the carb.
There should be an adjustment screw on the carb as well as a air/fuel mixture set of adjusters. I am not exactly sure where but I am sure if you ask in the Engine forum someone there will be able to help you.
