Power steering cooler?
Power steering cooler?
For the last 5 years I thought this was an add on engine oil cooler until it started to leak. Then I found out it was for the power steering fluid. I've never had a vehicle with one before...is that standard for a 2 wheel drive?
I've located the tranny cooler infront of the a/c condensor.
Why would you need a p/s fluid cooler? Wouldn't an engine oil cooler have been better for Ford to install?

i just found mine the other day too. i was like what is that? and i followed the lines to the p/s pump. its in a weird place too...way up under and behind the radiator. odd but i guess it extends the life of the pump or other components. i do know that in 98 rangers they changed from recirculating ball steering to rack and pinion steering, maybe its part of the new design.
It may have been in an attempt to quiet down that God-awful power steering whine. And I just looked all over on my truck, followed every power steering line and I did not locate a cooler. If it makes any difference my truck doesn't have A/C.
