gas engines oil cooler installation

Hi all; I've ordered an oil cooler for my 1995 F250 351W.
I've already installed a remote filter kit.
If anyone has installed a remote filter/oil cooler setup,
I'd like to know if there's a preferred way of installing the cooler.
i.e. from the engine to the filter?
OR from the filter back to the engine?

Thanks

My 89 has the factory remote oil cooler and the oil goes thru it before it goes thru the filter.
