Trans temp sender location???
I may put a trans temp gauge on my V-10 auto tranny. The gauge is an Autometer oil temp gauge that reads 180-320 degrees. It's mechanical with the 6ft capillary tube. What threaded port on the trans do I use for this gauge??
And what temp does trans fluid usually run?

The port is on the driver's side of the transmission, right above the pan. There is a black plug in the port.
Normal temperatures are about 40-100F above ambient temperature. It can vary a lot based on how you drive.

If your gage starts at 180 it will take a lot of hard towing in the summer to ever see it move. I have a 2000 F-250 4x4 V-10 and pull a 26 ft. Sunny Brook TT with it. Last summer with the outside air temp around 94 degress F the highest it ever read was 184. If you use the port in the side of the tranny be careful, it is really shallow. Some of the temp. probes will bottom out in the case before the threads are tight.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll have to double check that gauge. Maybe it starts at 140deg. Also I do have a brass adapter that will space the probe out alittle further in case it's too shallow. Thanks for the heads up on that.
