How long has it been coming in? You did any heavy duty pulls lately.
Is your fluid level good?
You have someone that can shoot it with a infra red to see baout what its reading.
What after market temp are you using? Is it mounted in the test port.
I would pull it if its in the test port and see what it looks like.
One of two posible issues- Im sure you have thought of it. The gauge is not reading right, the gauge is shorting. The internal sensor of the tranny is not getting good fluid pass. The internal sensor is shorting. Or its real.
Check the wiring harness for connection issues.
Clean with an electrical cleaner and then reseal with di-electric grease.
Fluid is good
I just got a areoforce scangauge and my temp is the same as the scangauge
Dont know when it came on the CEL didn't come I was playing with the scan gauge and checked DTC's
Rock, thanks for this info and link. I'm having similar issues, even after the transmission, TC and flexplate were replaced long ago enough to be out of warranty for over a week. Reps sent.
How do I connect the multimeter and have the MLPS connector in place while driving?

Whats the deal then cause this trans has never gotten that hot
Not sure, but I would check all of the connections real good. Perhaps there was some voltage carry over at one time. The Test port should be reading the proper temp when the truck is rolliing as fluid will be passing splashing over it.
Mike did you clear the code and it came back? If not I would just monitor it for a while. Make sure there the oil is cherry red. Is the RPM loads correlating to shift paterns?
This makes me rethink park after a hard tow. I think I will be doing a coast cool from now own before shdn or park.
i cleared it and it hasn't come back
The fluid is nice and red i just serviced it a couple months ago
It shifts fine
Good
I know thats a hair raiser to find that code. I would just monitor it real good when driving and towing and then periodically check for codes. You still may want to check the harness connection. In case it has a issue there.
