Make sure that you use the dialectric grease between the module and the distributer. If that is not used then the new module will get too hot and fail, even when the grease is used that sucker runs hot all of the time. Once I thought I had a bad one and took it to an auto parts store to have it tested. The clerk put it on the machine and said it was good, he handed it back to me and it was so hot that I thought he put it in a mocrowave oven. In my case, my dist cap actually went bad ( truck did not start). Now I carry a spare module cap and rotor.
always use the grease. have tried many after market and ford modules, all end up bad at some point tho. i just got done putting another one on with lots of grease (well enough for squeeze out) also added a 1 ga. ground from the battery. replaced the dist. and cap and rotor short time ago and still have problem with it.i will not give up tho cause i have rebuilt the entire truck, and this is the final problem to solve. the hunt continuse.
I'm thinking you'd also need a heat sink for it. '92 and up trucks use a remote mount TFI module, as far as I know, maybe you could find parts from one of those.
