!986 f250, 460, Ignition module is fender mounted. Have a new distributor with the coil in the cap and I think a built in module. My old dizzy has a three wire plug which goes to the ignition module. New distributor does not have this pigtail. Can I just hook up the batt and tach wires and not worry about the wires from the old fender mount ignition module? Thanks
I got it with the rebuild 460 I bought. It has no ID on it but looking in the summit catalog it looks like either MSD or Pertronix. Has coil in the cap, wires routing from stator to coil and two terminals to accept a batt and tach wire. As noted before, no pigtail for ignition module. I guess I am not really sure if it has an internal module but with no sign of other wires or other means to hook up external module...? Thanks for any help, Eric.
It sounds like you have a DUI or some other dist that is a Hybrid of a GM HEI and a Ford distributor. Run one large at least 12 guage wire to the fuse box for key on power, and you can use the other terminal for the tach.
