Are you asking if you should add a MSD 6a box ?? Heck yeah, I did and ya cant even smell the exhaust, the truck starts quicker, gets better mileage, runs smoother......

I was thinking just the iginition module- Accel makes one. I thought the MSD 6A box made the computer a little hinky?

So, you're saying there's no "monkey business" between a high output upgraded ignition system and the computer?

All it does is amplify the spark, and give 5 or 6 sparks in a row REAL quick. After like 3,500 rpm there is not enuff time to do so and you end up with A big 'ol spark for the rest of the rpm range- Get an INSULATED spark plug wire puller and check with the engine running, the msd 6A makes a scary spark- it will not ruin plugs or plug wires. MSD has a neet-o discussion forum and a lot of Q and A

Sweeeet... that's exactly where I need the "pep" from 1000-2500rpm to get rid of the sluggish...

My '90 bronco with the 351w ran GREAT after a new timing chain , distributor,de-carbon the throttlebody, tune up,....... and the smog guy said that it ran very clean, 3 days later I installed the 6-A and brought it back to him, he said it was even cleaner-

I run the MSD and I got the harness that just plugs in. If you get that, you can run it, shut it off and plug it in, and run it again. It wont take any more convincing once you try it. Also, on a long trip, you can run a tank with stock ignition and one with MSD. Your millage will increase 1-2 MPG.

If you look in my gallery on the intake mod pic, you can just see the stainless sheet metal mount. Its screwed on the underside of the hood. The MSD box is mounted right side up. It hangs over the steering shaft. (I know its kind of close to the headers, but no problems)

Take a look at my custom intake in my gallery helirich. If your filter isn't taking air from the outside (i.e. a true cold air intake) you might be actually choking your motor.

Cold air is dense with oxygen, much more contained then warm air of the same volume. Your current setup is feeding your motor from the warm air underneath your hood.

A couple of modifications to the stock cold air setup and you can seal off your filter and actually reap the benefits of the K&N filter you have on there.

Good Luck,
Mike

OBDII, requires adpater trigger if I go with Crane Hi-6S multiple spark distributor. Has anyone installed Crane with what the directions say is a must- the adaptive trigger?

We build our ignition modules with a few more degrees of dwell in them.

This allows whatever coil you are running to saturate longer, producing a hotter spark.
