Hello guys. My 2001 started rough and I ran a scan that told me injector 3 wasn’t operating. When I went to pull the valve cover I noticed the connector looks like it has an issue. The male end looks fine but as you can see one of the connections on the female end looks almost burnt up a little bit. I’m not really sure what I should do next. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
So I can just buy that pigtail and splice it in? I was going to pull the valve cover completely off but maybe I don’t need to? Any idea what would cause this to happen to the pigtail?
Would it be a good idea to go ahead and take the cover off and test the glow plugs to make sure this doesn’t happen again? Or the injector itself somehow? I’ve never messed with the glow plugs or injectors on this thing. 268k. Stock.
I believe the burnt terminal is a glow plug terminal, not an injector.
Yep. Thats a glow. The 2 outer most on each side are glows on that connector. Measure resistance at the V-cover connector.. All 4 glows should be about the same. IF the burnt one is higher then the other 3 then just snip the wire at the pigtail to that glow and put a nut on it, IF you want to put off fixing it.... This wil help to keep from buring up your glow relay. They start fine on just 7 glows. HOWEVER, If its running rought it may have already melted down the UVCH.. In that case just do what others recommended.
