Got alot done today

Changed fuel filter, clean the screen near the fpr, changed oil and oil filter, and checked some things.

Look at these pics:

COULD THIS BE THE ORIGINAL?

FREAKIN DIRTY, you guys should of seen the junk I cleaned off the fpr screen.

New lid for fuel filter.

Thanks to everyone here my Truck now has the proper filters and engine oil. i was also going to suck the oil out of the HPOP but i couldn't geet it open. And i unplugged 3 of the 4 valve cover plugs to check the prongs, bad news:
The farthest forward prong on the front plug and the farthest rear prong on the rear plug on the passenger side were melted so bad they were almost gone! i checked the front but not the back plug on the driver's side and it looked perfect.

The new lid is the factory style lid. On the valve cover plugs, if the one's on the valve cover are shot, you'll need a new valve cover gasket:

"Valve Cover Gasket (94-97) (Ford) F4TZ-6584-A (International) 1818350C2 (International are usually cheaper than Ford)"

If the pins in the harness are bad you'll need to repair them:

Valve Cover Harness Repair Kits (contains 4 hard shells w/seals, w/o terminals)

(Ford) F7TZ-14489-BA (94-96)
(Ford) F7TZ-14489-AA (97)
(International) 1830829C91 removal tool and Shells w/o pins
(International) 1661875C1 Pins
(International) 2501055C1 Pins with 6" wire

And/or: Valve cover harness replacement terminals:

Industry P/N 103935; Winzer Distributing (1-800-527-4126) selection number D52

Also I would pull the valve covers and check the under valve cover wiring harness also (and repalce as needed):

Valve Cover Harness, under valve cover

(Ford) F4TZ-9D930-K (94-97)
(International) 1815923C92 (94-97)

For now i'm just gonna leave it be, it always starts. Thanks for the P/N's they will be useful on down the road.

Since I cleaned the fpr screen and changed the fuel filter the ol girl seems to have a little more pep in her step.

If you fix the pins and wires she will have alot more PEEP. Burnt pins (especially burnt off pins), bad connections, and bad wiring harness means injectors that are not firing at 100% or not firing at all with burnt off pins.

it's a 4 pin connector the outer 2 are for the GP, and the inner 2 are for you injectors, had to change mine a long time ago before I put the stage 2's in, and I could tell a difference.

they're both for glowplugs.

the center is ground, the next ones out from center are injectors and the outers are GP's

since the inner 3 pins all looked good the injectors should be operating properly, right?

So as long as it starts (at least two gp short of 8) their is no real need to fix anything?

There's a problem with that filter you took out... It's not red. Just kidding.

The connections/wires can be a little melted and you shouldn't have any problems. However, eventually you will have you short out. So it's something you can do when you have the time...
