Transmission Drain Options
Transmission Drain Options
Looking for an economical transmission drain system. I have a F-350 w/ a 10 speed transmission with a composite oil pan. Thinking of installing a bulk head style drain plug. Anyone has any experience or ideas?
Hello Cargo Master:
I am nervous putting a bulk head style fitting into a composite material. But I live in a socialist country and our Canadian peso is worth 72cents of the American Dollar. The PPE pan up here sells for $500 w/ taxes + Shipping
I am curious, several different models of the PPE Transmission cover, ranging in additional oil capacities from 1.75 Qts to 7 Qts more capacity. Which option did you go for?
I am not towing any major wt and we will rarely hit 100F temps in Western Canada, thinking I have little concern for transmission cooling

I didn't know they offered a smaller pan. The one I got holds an additional 7 QTs or so. I would have gotten the smaller one had I known about it. I just wanted a drain plug. It sucks pulling a pan and hoping it makes it to the container and not on you!
Pans do NOTHING for transmission cooling, no matter what transmission pan sellers tell you.
For three years, my job at Ford was developing transmission cooling systems.
