93 F150 XLT, .351W, stopped moving, fluid poured out. Could it be torque converter? Clueless.
Most often when this happens, the front pump/converter seal has failed. Very common after sitting for long periods of time. It will run out of the converter cover drain tube. Once it looses enough fluid of course, you wont have any working gears. You don't want to start the engine again or you could damage the pump. Sometimes, though a bit less often, the bushing walks forward right behind that seal, and this causes all the fluid to pour out because it blocks the return hole.
If this is where the leak is, you'll have to pull the trans to replace the bad seal, bushing and or pump, depending on what happened.
Maybe you got lucky and just blew a trans line or something. You'll have to show us a pic of where the fluid came from.
overheat.sounds like he was driving, lost gears, and it was puking. thats an indicator either its not cooling or its not locking up or its busy shifting frequently and slipping lots during so
My son was driving when this happened, pulling a laded trailer. Waiting on him to get my truck home so I can eyeball it. Apologize for jumping the gun. Y’all have given me things to search for. Thank you! Will definitely be in touch.
You did the right thing. You don't know what you don't know. You learned not to start the truck, and especially not try and drive it without first putting some ATF back in; which is Mercon 5 by the way.
