1994 E4OD TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER?

1994 f250 7.3l IDI. 4x4 E4OD TRANSMISSION.
my son and I are doing some fluid changes on this truck and we are now at the stage of servicing the transmission.it has the e4od transmission.
my question is we found that this torque converter has no drain plug,so how do you remove all the fluid out of the torque converter.

An article from Mark Kovalsky: Changing ATF Fluid in a E4OD and 4R100 transmission | Ford Trucks

Works like a charm!

That's interesting. More like a transfusion than a draining.

But good to know. I don't think it's needed to often.

That's why these lists are great. Learn something new everyday.

thanks,

Joe W.

that's not an oem converter.oem's are not painted and have a drain plug (you may need to bump the engine over to find it) when there isn't a plug, following the above linked to article will do the trick.just don't run the pump dry for long.it's critical it has fluid at all times or you could burn up the pump gears and or scar the pump housing quickly.

we cranked the engine over by hand about 3 times.we couldn't find a plug anywhere on the torque converter. our transmission has a metal cover plate with a vent tube welded on to it.most torque converters that i have seen have a plastic plug on bell housing cover that you remove and thats how you get to the plug on the torque converter.
