Just make sure the torque converter rattles during the install
That means the torque converter is loose in there and must be pulled up forward to the flex plate when bolting it up
If you start all the bolts or nuts on the studs, the torque converter will rattle back and forth meaning (indicating) the front pump is not on a bind

Generally, if you cannot get your fingers back behind the converter, it is installed all the way
Up and down and side to side some is okay because the hub is not mated to the crankshaft center hub yet
Use Mercon V (2 reasons) because you will have a hard time finding old Mercon that was not synthetic like the V is
And V is better fluid (longer lasting)
