TPMS battery life

What do you all see for TPMS battery life ? I will be replacing tires this year and the TPMS sensors are seven years old. I was considering replacing the TPMS sensors during the next tire replacement before the TPMS sensors die. Thanks in advance.

On Google searches, I see TPMS sensor battery life by age, by mileage, and affected by type of driving, temperature, and tire pressure. This is my first truck with TPMS and I don't know which TPMS longevity measure is correct to expect.

I’d change them if it was mine. I think 7 years is pretty good for the originals. Next thing ya know, if they’re not changed, you’ll get no reading from 1 of the sensors and the battery will be dead. Just my .02

If it was me, I wouldn't replace them early, even though 7 years is pretty decent for them. Not the end of the world if one battery dies and you get that warning light on the dash, it's not an immediate safety issues. And crap happens to tires when you least expect it, so you might have those off sooner than you expect for one reason or another.

I'd just replace after failure, but I'm a diy type. I just replaced the tpms units on my '19 winter wheels so that they'd work with my '25 F250. Cost for the 4 preprogrammed sensors was less than what the tire shop wanted for one. It didn't take much more than an hour, once I got the bead breaking process mastered.

And the OEM sensors in my '17 F250 wheels were still functional when I sold the truck last summer.

Up to you but worked for Discount tire over 12 years. Depending on where you get tires at. The sales guy might give you a deal on 4 if you mention you would change them if the price was right. We all know it doesn’t cost 60-100 to make those little things. Or if you hold of they normally don’t charge install to put them in later. Just the cost of the sensors. Does depend on if your running stock wheels. If so they just break the top bead. Swap the sensors and air back up bolt on. Don’t need to rebalance or anything.

My truck is 8 years old and they’re still working. Wife’s VW Touareg is 17 years old 240,000 miles and those are still working. Those can report tire temperature and pressure.

id run it and not waste any money on new ones.

My 2016 F150 tpms's started dying after 9.5 years. Costco did all 4 wheels for $230.
