I just bought a used 2021 XLT, definitely want to level. I didn't realize how low these new trucks sit....
I was leaning toward the Roush kit with the adjustable coilovers. I see they recommend installing the front camber kit on the lower control arms, do you guys agree with this? also I would assume an alignment is mandatory after the install regardless if installing the camber kit or not?
Yes you need an alignment afterwards. As far as the camber kit goes, every time I've had a leveling kit installed the changes made were small enough the shop was able to get the alignment done without the kits.
It depends on how much camber adjustment you have when you take you truck in for an alignment. They will show you how much the camber is off. What's the cost between a camber kit vers a 2nd alignment job if they can't get it back in specs.
Alignment is mandatory yes. On a standard 2" level on the 14th gen, you're usually right at the edge of spec — a good shop can often get you there without the camber kit, but it's close.
If you're running tires larger than stock or want peace of mind on wear, the adjustable lower control arms are worth doing at the same time. Saves a return trip.
One thing people skip: ask for a four-wheel alignment, not just front end. The rear thrust angle matters on these trucks. Roush kit is good hardware, you're in good shape.
I've done quite a few levels on these trucks using spacers or coilovers. If you leave the LCA alone, in other words, don't drop it, you'll likely find just a toein adjustment is needed. Of course this also depends on if you were in alignment to start with.
I've only had myself, one truck I needed cambolts, and that was with my Ranger with torsion bars.
It isn't a bad idea knowing you "might" need the cambolts, just a heads up I guess.
