Coil Springs For Dual Shock 4x4

Hello, this is my first post on this new to me unit.

I've recently purchased a 1989 F150 4x4 5 speed 4.9,with the dual front shock handling package.

Been hunting for the correct coil springs and having trouble finding the correct units

found these on bronco graveyard which I was told by the rep are ford oem replacements. The rep told me on the phone they are the same for 4x4, and 2x4, which conflicts with my research done on summit auto, and various other places, including a couple of auto parts stores, that list a lot of springs that state "not for dual shock set up". So the question is, why would these springs work on both 2x4, and 4x4.
1980-1996 Ford F-Series Standard Cab F150 Stock Coil Springs

Also found a set on LMC and they are twice the price

Can anyone with the knowledge that I lack tell me what is the correct part to use, and where to buy please.

Going to replace the old shocks with KYB, a couple of bushing kits to replace the end link and sway bar rubber, have some caster bushing going in too.

anyone know what size the front and rear sway bars are on this model? there are a few sizes to choose from, and I am not certain.

also if there is anything besides the read first posts i should study, please let me know

thanks all

If I had of answered right off the top of my head, I would have said they were all the same. For sure the "regular" 4x2 and 4x4 springs *are* the same, but as you found, the quad-shock option changes this. IDK what is different, tho.

If it was mine, I would order the regular springs and I would see what I could do to fit them in there. Even if they won't go, at least I would know what it is that is different. But that's me, Mr. Vegas they call me. :-)

The only thing I can think of is perhaps they are skinnier to make room for the extra shock?

I was ready to do just that until I found a couple of folks who had issues, one stating that the shocks would not even compress with the Moog cc824, which is what I purchased for the swap

It's been many years so I forgot about this, but I used to have a 1991 Bronco SAE. It had the quad-shock option. I converted it to diesel using a 7.3 IDI out of a 1990 F250 4x2. I used the diesel springs on the Bronco and they fit just fine. So not sure what the problem is, but I did this more than 10 years ago and I guess I got away with it because I did not know any better.

I'm not certain there's an issue other than i read a couple of things. one guy said after installing moog cc824 that his shock would not compress at all.

my main concern is that i don't want to do the work twice, and want to get the correct part.

looking at both of these, and have messages sent, awaiting answers to make sure they fit.

BDS two inch
Rough Country 1.5 inch

Will it be okay with KYB Gas A Just stock replacement with these taller springs?

The springs are the same for a quad shock and a 2 shock truck
What's wrong with the springs in there now?

Thete is no difference in the springs but the correct shocks can be difficult to find.

Truck sits about 3 and 1/2 in down in the front.
Spring height is just under 11 in. Not to mention that they're 37 years old.

Can you explain if that theory that the springs work in all trucks, then why do all the websites like RockAuto, jegs, summit racing show in the fitments for all the springs for say, not for dual shock setup?

I truly appreciate your answers, and I'm not trying to be a contrarian. I just want to get the right parts so I don't have to do it twice. Thanks for your answers.

Why do they not fit and what springs do they say to use ?

There are no footnotes on Moog’s website about dual or quad shocks.

I'd ask Ford Parts to be sure
I know people used to just buy the brackets and shocks to switch theirs over and no springs IIRR
Easy to get one of your springs out and measure the resting heightg
Then, hit a junkyard and pull the spring out of a F150 and measure
I think new springs suck, especially the Moog cargo coils which are progressive rate springs with closer winds at the top
Those quad shocks were like a snowplow special to begin with and the Rangers had an inside the coil spring air bag option
I'd get the Ford part number from Ford for a Ford spring and search Ebay

Ford will want the spring code to look up springs and a production date most likely

I have CC824 springs and I'm happy with how they perform. However I have a heavy winch bumper, so the progressives don't ride too harsh.

I do not know what this means. How does a spring prevent a shock from compressing?
