I bought Frankenstein truck in 2020 of an 18 year old kid who lived in a junkyard. The truck is 99 k1500 lifted 6 inches with 94 f350 rear axle and what appears to be a 79 f250 dana 44 axle in the front. It has 77-79 flat top knuckles and the spindle has been impossible to find. The previous owner or someone a long time ago Hammered it off and left it effed up. So I want to buy new or even used of in good shape. Picture is attached
It is 5 bolt
The axle # is visible but I doubt that the spindle is original. I have been told that there is a serial number on the edge of the flange of the spindle. Is that true?
Did a quick google search for a 79 ford dana 44 3/4-ton spindle and there are options for you to check out. Bronco Graveyard was one option. Might also check Ventures Auto parts in Utah for good used Danna axle parts. Good luck with your project and keep us posted with progress on your truck project.
I believe I found it. It appears to be a 76-77.5 highboy f250. Link of 1 example https://torqueking.com/products/4033...be2cd1ed&_ss=r Bronco graveyard has same thing I believe but picture is not as good.https://shop.broncograveyard.com/mob...uctinfo/21705/ I'll be calling Bronco Monday. His specs match perfect. 7 1/8 tall 5 hole and 2 inch and 1.675 inch bearing journals. Perfect match. Thank you for your help! Here is a picture of my truck. My GM truck riding on Ford axles. American made baby.
IMO that spindle is not that bad, I would think a local machine shop could clean it up easy enough. I would just work over that dented area with a file and get it to work. What do you have to loose trying to self repair. Torque King is great place to shop, great place for advice also.
randys ring and pinion shows they have it, also I have seen a few sqap the entire knuckle to a chevy d44 knuckle and then they use chev 8 lug parts or "outers" as they are occasionally referred to. Obtaining knuckles might be an option.
