2004 f350 6.0
blue spring upgrade
at idle i had 60 psi, that dropped to 20psi under load...
new pump i have 70psi at idle..under load it drops to 40psi
is that an issue i need to figure out?
stock,no egr,no egr cooler,no cat,3.5inch to 5inch exhaust out the rear
does not smoke, roll coal ,no crankscase pressure hot or cold
Yes, that is definitely an issue that needs to be figured out. 40 psi could damage your injectors. Mine idles around 68 to 70 psi, but never drops below 60.

the only good thing about my fuel pressure issue,im not getting on it,so im getting better fuel mileage.
that first below freeze nite we had hurt the original pump,
i already changed both filters, they looked great ,
i put a cheap pump in from amazon...so thats problyu where i screwed up
Has the pickup foot in the tank been replaced? These have been known to break apart and pieces get sucked into the pickup tube. Just be aware that any time you are below 40 psi you risk damaging injectors. Doesn’t matter if you’re hot rodding or not.

I have not checked pick up tube yet,I figure with the primary and secondary fuel filter coming out looking new after 7k miles that the tank was clean.
watching vids I will be checking the pick up tube.
if I baby it to 65mph the fuel pressure stays above 65.i have a pressure gauge rigged up inside the cabin.
You have an inlet restriction.. Part of the foot in the tank sucked up into the pickup tube. OR something in the tank sucked up into the pickup tube restriction volume.. This is why pressure is good at idle.... I have customers that love there truck just a little to much and in adding cetane booster they leave the tops of the additive in the tank which get sucked up into the pickup tube when the sender foot comes off....

that's like the best answer with the most merit.i did pull the pick up tube during engine rebuild.it was good, not brittle and broke. I parked it and ordered a fassfuel system for it.sump and good supply and return lines for it.
Your fuel pressure should not vary more than a couple PSI no matter what.
Others have mentioned known in tank issues to look into. One way to know for sure what side of the pump the issue is on is to feed the pump from a fuel can and take it for a quick WOT run. If the issue goes away, it's in the tank. If it's still there its the pump or a post pump issue

so the pickup screen was broke of clean in 1 piece.no other contamanate in the tank.blew the pick up tube and return tube out, blew both supply and return to fuel pump out
replaced the pick up screen.and primary filter is still clean no chunks
still losing presure on hard acceleration...drops to 45
thats with a delphi pump
45 is min according to the diesel diag sheet but not ideal....I know its more expensive then the ebay/amazon blue springs but I recommend only oem fuel pressure regulators and oem motorcraft fuel filters... Especially the lower filters. The aftermarket likes to put to many pleats that doesnt flow enough volume like oem, which will make the pressure fine at idle but drop under heavy tip in..
