I have a 82 f100 with a 302 automatic transmission i bought as a project truck, I was wondering for 8n the future what can I do to give it more oomph, im not looking for no 400hp but just some extra giddy up when I punch it.
Have you talked with a local auto machine shop yet ? They may/will have info about what they have seen work well. You'll also want them to perform the machining your engine block, etc will need before you waste money on parts for a weak/worn engine.
You can look through Summit Racing or Jegs to get some ideas.
Make a list of things you think you want, and list the cost too.
What condition is the trans in, does it need rebuilding too... ?
Before you spend your $$$$ ask here as you have done. We're more than happy to help you spend your money...
I assume you know the basic's like intake manifold, carb and maybe shorty headers if you plan to use the truck as a truck.

I haven'thaveed any shop its just the current thought i was running through my head thus is a future ordeal im currently doing all its basic maintenance cause its really behind on it, I figured i work on engine upgrade and extra oomph for when the truck is like 85-90% is sitting like a 40% as for the transmission it dosent stick or slipp and goes through all gear its just a struggle to keep in the last gear because of low power right now in which from my current observation over these past few months with it it needs new spark plugs
Then do a good "tune-up" (cap and rotor) using good wires and copper plugs, you don't need fancy expensive spark plugs, these trucks are happy with the Champion copper plugs. NGK is good too. Main point, use copper plugs.
Have you replaced the fuel filter ?
Battery, make sure your cables look something like mine.

I do plan to use it as a truck but I still would like to enjoy its v8 also (even though its a 80s small block) but yeah I know the basics I know the way you need to tune these things is through the carb I plan to go through its fuel system at one point because I need to replace its sending unit because its gas gauge is messed up and the battery and cables are new but side mount. Also I understand that about the plugs not looking to turn it into a race truck i have a mustang for street fun(even though is a 4.0) but yeah any other insight is definitely appreciated!
Find out what rear gear ratio you have. Is it a c5 automatic? Some of the f100's had a very low 2.5 to 1 rear gear. That would make it great for high speed highway driving, but lousy for acceleration.
Late 70's early 80's 302's are pretty weak. Before you do anything make sure the engine is healthy. Good oil pressure, good compression, and/or leak down test readings will give you a idea on if you should bother. If go a mild [yes a MILD] cam will really help to wake it up. Add a aftermarket intake, with a small 4bbl will change the feel of the engine quite a bit. If you have any exhaust shops around a better custom Y pipe, into a 2.5 or 3" system will help also. At lower rpm levels whether you want to run stock exhaust manifold, shorty headers, or full length ones are up to you. You can only know where you want to be on that "Hassle/HP" scale. If you want more, just about any head is better then whats on there now. A nice set of take off smaller aftermarket heads from someone that upgraded is a good value point. Old GT40's are good. There are the GT40P heads that are good, but dealing with exhaust can be a pain. Heck even later model E7 heads are a lot better then the stock early 80's ones. If your doing a full build on it I recomend finding a later roller cam block and starting with that. Or heck, start with a 351/5.8 at that point.

I think the rear gear is what the killer of power is that you feel.
My 81 F100 with a 300 six and granny 4sp / add on over drive has a 2.75 rear gear.
With my setup I only turn 1800 RPM at 70 MPH.
The 300 is no race motor but that 2.75 rear gear hurt it off the line.
