Probably not on a relatively stock engine. I doubt a somewhat serious build would show any measurable power differences. For me it was more a matter of being able to clean stuff up under the hood and having the added functionality of a rev limiter. On top of that, it's relatively cheap for what you're getting. The FE unit was $325 when I bought it, $368 now. The 351/400 unit is a bit more but I think it is still worth it.

As a final note to this thread, I bought the Autoline d4034. Linked Here.
I received and inspected the part. Motorcraft body. Stock shaft and reconditioned gear. No adapter included. Looks to be a solid reman. Dropped into the block without issue. Good fit.
