Are your bushings bad? they can be replaced if needed. you can rebuild yours to be better than you can buy.
A new can, rotor and pickup coil, cap and gear are about all there is to it. if any of those components are good you can reuse them. if you do replace the gear go with MSD . search ebay and wherever for an NOS pickup coil all the new ones are imported junk. I bought NOS Prestolite ones for my rigs and keep a spare.

I’ve used Performance before. Took me almost 6 months to get the distributor. Nice unit when I got it I must admit.
I do not happen to have a spare factory unit lying around anymore. Thus the question. I like the idea of eBay. My local pull yards are stripped bare. I didn’t know if any other manufacturers did high-quality remanufactured units.
Ebay was the bane of my existence when I was going through the restoration process. I got screwed so much that I swore it off. Lots of grifters on that site, and doing due diligence on the seller is no guarantee that you are going to receive what was advertised. Anyway, proceed with caution. Your mileage may vary.
Why the opposition to going with a Pertronix setup? Might be cheaper and more hassle free in the long run? Cleans up a lot of clutter too.
This is not a rebuild/reman, but a completely gone through unit -
Description
The Ford Duraspark we offer is a high performance unit for those who want a completely stock appearing or factory style electronic distributor. Each Duraspark Electronic Distributor is custom calibrated on a distributor machine and blueprinted for your Ford engine to provide maximum power, torque and instant throttle response. We tune the centrifugal advance using information about the vehicle and engine such as cam duration & lift, carburetor size, compression ratio, vehicle weight and octane of fuel. A super smooth advance curve assures excellent performance and mileage. The vacuum advance is calibrated for maximum fuel economy and light throttle ping is eliminated. The factory center bushing on our Duraspark Distributors is replaced with a full length bronze oil impregnated bushing to provide increased durability and cure top end timing fluctuation, which is a common problem in these distributors due to the weaker stock bushing. Our Duraspark Distributor can be used for a number of applications from everyday street use to all out racing.
If you buy a cheap box-store reman, you will be getting junk.
No matter who you get a rebuilt unit from they're going to use the same junk pickup coil everyone else uses, because that's all you can buy unless you search for NOS. and the same cap and rotor, and the same can, and maybe the same gear. do they use MSD? all that leaves are the bushings and that's not an obstacle.
Saying it's perfectly curved is a joke unless you're bone stock at or near sea level and use the fuel they set it for. you might get lucky, I'm sure it will run. but if you have to curve it anyway you gained nothing.
suit yourself, but I can do it better and so can you.

You have me thinking…. Maybe a Flamethrower with Ignitor 2. Nothing against it. This truck is just a cruiser. A male cap could keep it looking stock-ish.
So I’d need a new coil. 86 the ICM and related harness. All solid state and no moving parts? I’m thinking about it.
