The FE in my 1970 F250 has got the number ‘63’ stamped above ‘352’ at the front of the block.
Can anyone confirm what this means?
Backstory - this truck originally had a 360 in it, and when I bought it a couple of years ago I was told it had a 360. I measured the stroke and determined the original engine was replaced (or converted) and is in fact a 390. Would the 63 indicate it’s a 1963 engine???
Assuming it’s a serial number from the workshop that created the molds then, eh?
The block is cast (FORD FOUNDRIES) by using several different molds. The molds are identified by numbers to be able to identify the correct mold and to trace any defects in the finished cast block.
