I have a '72 Ford and I need to know what size engine it has. I just bought a new pressure washer and decided to wash the grease from my engine. Under the grease, just under the head on the right side, their is the number 352. Is this the engine size or what. I've always thought my engine was a 360. My neighbor was the original owner, and he said it was the original engine and that it is a 360. What does that 352 number mean?
THE FE family all come from the same block casting. The 352 is base the casting for the 360, 390, 410, 427, or 428. You will need to check the vin to know which, or tear it down and inspect it.
If it is the original engine it isn't a 352. 1967 was the last year Ford put 352's in the F-Series trucks at the factory. In 68 the 352 was replaced by the 360 and 390.

I can send pictures if you like...
No pictures necessary. I know almost 100% that it is a 360. I got the truck from the original owner and he knows trucks. But, seeing that 352 made me wonder. Next weekend, I'll try to find the serial numbers on the block to find out once and for all.

Thanks
Just check you VIN inside the driver's door. If the Fourth Digit is a "Y" the original motor is a 360 and if it is an "H" it came with a 390.
We won't even get started with the backward 105 casting.....
