I have a '72 Ford and I need to know what size engine it has. I just bought a new pressure washer and decided to wash the grease from my engine. Under the grease, just under the head on the right side, their is the number 352. Is this the engine size or what. I've always thought my engine was a 360. My neighbor was the original owner, and he said it was the original engine and that it is a 360. What does that 352 number mean?
Some FE's were cast with "352" on them some were not ..due to the fact that it is a '72 and it is the origainal engine it is a 360 ,as the 352 was dropped in '67 I belive . Other then that I dont know what else to tell you othere then I had a 390 out of a '76 that had 352 on it ! Ford just loves to make fe's difficult to id ,other then taking measurements

Looking from the front of the truck, you found this number "352" under the drivers head on the block. Almost all of the FE blocks have this number stamped on them regardless of size. This was past the original casting set used for the FE's and Ford never dropped it.
The 360, 390, and 410 are practically identical blocks and the 352 is very similar. There are a lot of interchange possibilities. Based on the year 1972 this is probably a 360, or 390 block (since the 352 stopped production on '67).
Can you post the casting number from the block?
Just about everything above the crank will interchange, though there are some good and bad choices.
On most FE's the casting number is at the front of the block under the passenger's cylinder head exhaust manifold, just below the split of the Y. If it isn't there, look under the starter.
