This Post won't really add anything not already said, other than it verifies Ford's awareness why the OP only gets 90V from his meter...
My truck came with the 2000W (120V) inverter and I was curious if its output is as dirty as the 400W (110V) inverter. I had a look through the Service Manual and it states the 2000W inverter is pure sine wave output. The manual also states the 400W inverter requires a true-RMS meter to correctly get a voltage measurement, which explains the 90V,

Must have been a small pancake compressor - most of the bigger ones I've seen pull more than 400 watts and would pop the breaker. Gotta say I'm impressed it would do that much.
This little compressor surprised me and inflated my RV tires to 80 psi using my onboard power and a 25ft., 16/3 cord. I made up a 15' hose with a 1/4" air chuck
I had no problems using a DeWalt 1, 2 or 4 battery charger. I like having fully charged 20v tool batteries when I show up for a project. Same goes for the 20v Skill charger, no issues. I also ran a mini fridge for insulin when I was dependent. Having cold water is nice too.

Interesting. I have a similar one from Craftsman's 'home' line or whatever, the green and gray stuff...I'll have to look into its specs, as that would open up some possibilities for me on some projects.
The 400w inverter in my '17 F250 would run a small Shop Vac cannister vac and the GF's heating pad. The 400w inverter in my '25 F250 will run neither of them. The vac will try to run, growl a bit and quit. The power light on her heating pad just flashes. Neither behavior trips the power output to the outlet. I'd really like to find a fix for the issue with her heating pad...
