I noticed my oil temp was very high, about 240 cruising at highway speed, I backflushed and am assuming its an oil cooler. So I ordered a new cooler. Question is that when I was looking at the oil temp sensor, I noticed that the pigtail wires were exposed and rubbing together. Could this lead to incorrect readings? Im going to fix the pigtail and retest before I dive into the oil cooler, but wasnt sure if this could lead to incorrect high oil temp readings.
Not only should every 6.0L owner have gauges (electronic preferably), they also need to frequently do temperature and pressure checks on a cold engine (first thing in the morning is a good time).
After sitting 10-12 hours, verify that all the temperature sensors are close to each other (ECT, EOT, TFT, IAT1, IAT2).
Before starting, verify that the pressure sensors are all close to each other (Baro, MAP, EBP).
