Hi,
My 5.4 engine stalled on me a few times and giving me P0190 code, indicating the fuel rail pressure sensor could be the cause. I guess the best course of action is to replace it. From what I’ve gathered it’s located midway on the right side of the engine. Is this correct? Also, should I start with a fuel pressure reading first, should there be an other I fuel delivery issue? And if so is there a test port on one of the rails? Location?
TIA for any info.
The sensor is just telling you that the fuel pressure is out of self test range
I would be looking at the driver module and the relay, also the fuel pump
How many miles?
Have you put eyes on the driver module or looked at the relay?
A good visual inspection is FIRST
When the fuel pump fails, it sets the same code (190-193), same with the driver module
It sure could need a new rail sensor, but you have some testing to do first
@ 007: Thank you. The van has 140,000. It’s wheelchair modified with a rear tank. We had the tank out a year ago to repair some rust and replace one of the tank vents that was giving off another code. I wanted to replace the pump but I couldn’t find one with the exact part number so we went with the original pump. We replaced the driver because the tank needs to be dropped to replace it. But the driver is a Dorman and I’ve read that could be a problem.
