Hi Everyone
We left on vacation and got no more than 20 miles before our F-350 Turbo Diesel went into limp mode (3 separate times). We limped into O'Riley Auto Parts (its Sunday) and used their code reader. This was the code that was read. P0088 which is a high fuel pressure indication. Some research here back from 2017 indicated 3 possible causes. Does anyone know for sure? Listed was a dented fuel line, malfunctioning pressure sensor and a 3rd reason that eludes me now. Ford Pass was no much help other than to offer towing if the truck is in an unsafe location. Can anyone offer any insight? How serious is a DTC code 2 of 3?
The truck has less than 15K on it and has an extended warranty as well.
Regards and Thanks
Bill
We have had all the regular services done at our local Ford dealer. We will call him in the morning. We had wondered about the fuel filter, but this was NOT listed/suggested as any of the fixes.
The recommended interval for changing the filters is 30K, if I'm reading the manual correctly. I am at less than 15K. A bad tank of gas is always a possibility but I have always had Ford Service at the prescribed intervals.
bad fuel, clogged filters, those maybe part of or not at all.
Lower your interval to 15K on the filters. especially if you get fuel from multiple sources. These fuel systems are too expensive to repair so take care of them.
Any chance you use an additive in your fuel? The little bottles and the cardboard caps can fall off into your tank if not paying attention. Then they block the pickup tube.

It's 15k for trucks that are on the Severe Duty Schedule.
This morning early I called both FordPass and the dealership. I asked for towing made all the arrangements (they obviously have very little integration between the app and their representatives). It was a complete re-entering of all our data down to even our VIN despite entering it into FordPass. After doing all this, the service rep demanded a $`172 payment by credit card. I tried explaining that the truck is under vwarranty and that we also have and extended warranty but she was obviously following some sort of incorrect script as she had the mileage wrong. This went nowhere so I politely thanked her and called the dealer. They were of little more help and couldn't say why Ford was not covering the tow. This had gone on well over an hour. I finally just got into the truck and drove the 14 miles to the dealership. the check engine light was on all the way but there was no evidence of limp mode. Were still awaiting word as to the status of the truck.
And our vacation time clicks on...

A description of what's wrong with the world these days...
**** poor customer service!!!
Hi Everyone that is following this saga.
Its not going well. They have elevated our case to "Ford National" as the local experts can't determine what is causing the limp mode and its codes. I inquired about the fuel filter but the dealership doesn't believe this is the problem. Well try this suggestion if nothing else can be found.
All the times it limped it was at full operating temperature so I am beginning to suspect a faulty circuit that is opening when the truck is very warm.
Ford has suggested a full further range of tests that they are performing now.

I have the same problem with my 2010 6.4L. We have changed the sensor, $1268.00 That did not work. Now I am replacing the high pressure pump. To replace it I guess I have to lift the cab off the truck. The high pressure pump is located way down between the two cylinder banks underneath a cover. The Ford pump is around $1500.00. By the time I am done with labor and all it will be close to $5,000/00. I am not going to purchase another truck that I have to remove the cab to work on the engine.
