Did have a Jeep we raced off road in low range that the governor stripped the gear on, it was a GM trans, and would not shift.
So I can see it sticking a cause for late shifting. It sounds like they are trying to fix it so that is something good.

Sounds like they are warrantying their work. Just be careful with it, late firm shifts while maybe aggravating, are ok. Early soft shifts are what can burn up the trans. But don't mess with the cable adjustment, let them mess with it. Very easy to smoke that transmission again.

Hard to describe the frustration… it was fixed and now I get neutral in 4th gear. That means od band is smoked apparently.
