Hello everyone. Got another potential issue, feels like the 3rd one this week. This time, I was coasting downhill, and around 10 seconds into the descent, POP! it was pretty loud, like a firecracker went off inside the cab. No engine light, temps were good, oil pressure was good. After, the engine seemed to run just fine, no weird sounds or noticeable performance issues. Now I did just have my tires rotated, and the fronts have been picking up more gravel lately; so maybe it was just a rock flinging out and hitting something hard. It just didnt sound like a rock though. Any ideas other than a back fire? if it was a back fire should I be concerned? This is a 2005 f350 V10 with 137k miles. And no it didnt blow a spark plug lol.
Ok ill start with the air filter as it was last replaced in November of last year. If it happens again ill replace the fuel filter. Thanks for the pointers.
neither filter will cause a backfire,
backfires happen when a over rich fuel mixture reaches a hot exhaust, which ignites it in either the cat or muffler, if it was mine i would be running a fuel system cleaner though it, to clean the injectors ,valves and combustion chambers, At 137k i would be packing away cash for a new crossover/cat assembly, which in 2005 for my own v10 250 cost me 2 grand to replace after taking it out off roading
blow a plug out of a 3 valve ? never happen, these pencil/2 piece plugs were good for breaking off in the head making for a need for a special plug removal tool.
