1st Gen 12 Valve into 08 F350

Hello. New member. First post. I'm Charles from Florida. I'm a long time Ford guy.

I've had a 93 D350 DRW for about 15+ years. It was my daily driver for a very long time.
It has spent the past several years in the field by my house. Nothing really wrong with it.
I just had other vehicles come and go and daily drove them. So, it got neglected, badly.
The body is now beyond my ability to fix. Parts are scarce around here and very pricey.
But it started bothering me to have such an awesome engine just setting going to waste.

I began monitoring Facebook Marketplace for a Ford Super Duty to swap the Cummins into.
I found a 2008 F350 Crew cab Lariat DRW 4X4 with the 6.4L already pulled, pretty cheap.
It still has the 5R110 and all the running gear. Only things missing were the bed and bumpers.
Great looking truck inside and out. And basically my dream truck, once I get the Cummins in.

I've done a lot of research and planning. I've bought pretty much everything I should need.
I'm not going into a complete parts list here at this time. I will update the thread as I go along.
I'll post what I got and whether it works or not. I only have about one day a week to work on it.
So, expect this project to take a while. I'm a tinkerer and plan to enjoy every single minute of it.

My progress so far has been mostly working on the engine and it's removal from the old Dodge.
I first removed the entire front clip from the truck and everything that from the engine, as well.
I'm doing quite a bit of performance upgrades and repairs, while I have easy access to the motor.

Here's some pictures that I have so far.

That's a great project. Advance the timing, add a fuel pin and an HX35 turbo to up the performance. That Superduty weighs a bit more than the ol Dodge.

Yes. The performance parts have been ordered. Hx35 60/67/12, 5x0.014 Injectors, 3800 spring and fuel pin.
And many, many more parts. Most have arrived, but the injectors and turbo have a lead time of couple weeks.

Also, I'm installing ARP 2000 studs and 60# springs. I'm doing this without removing the head.

I almost finished the head studs and valve springs. All that is left is 21-26 on the studs. And the two springs on cylinder 6.

Not only was this easier than I expected, it was also a lot of fun. Soothing and relaxing, even.

Not a lot of progress on the engine. Spent most of the weekend pulling the cab off the F350.

It's been slow going with my work schedule and weather getting in the way, lately.
But I've managed to get a few things done here and there. Still waiting on parts, too.
I've got some time off coming next week, so hopefully progress can find a higher gear.

Got the injector pump cleaned, painted, upgraded, resealed, installed and timed.
I put in a Ratman's 3800 governor spring, fuel pin and custom delivery valves.
Installed the pump one tooth out and realigned the factory index marks.

I put a second gen fan hub on there not realizing the pulley was also different.
I had to order the pulley. It should be here Friday. Pulled the oil pan to clean.
Noticed it had some deep rust spots in it. Ordered a new one.

I went with the Fluidampr kit instead of taking a chance on my old damper being bad.
I've got a LPHV lift pump but forgot to order the correct studs until I tried installing it.
New dipstick tube is in. New thermostat, housing, front crank seal and water pump.
Trying to install the rear seal with the motor swinging on a chain didn't go so well.
I messed up the seal and had to reorder. I actually need a wear sleeve anyways.
So, I ordered the kit with the sleave and the tool to install it and the seal together.

You can't see from the picture, but I have the 3-piece exhaust manifold installed.
As well as the oil cooler and filter housing. Using the Ford Alt and AC compressor.
I'm trying to think of everything I've done, but I'm probably forgetting some stuff.
Well, that's all for now. Maybe next update will have the engine in the frame.

Instead of fighting with trying to get the oil pan and gasket lined up correctly and bolted, I ordered some studs instead,
This made it simple to install. I left it loosely attached until I get the new rear seal and seal housing installed next week.
