Battery selection help?

If I’m going to start my truck this summer (yes, I’m almost tot that point), I’m going to need a battery. Looking around, I don’t know that any retail outlet sells a battery that would be more or less correct. I’d like the size, dimension wise, that looks like it belongs in the truck and I can use the original hold down. The closet that NAPAONLINE showed was listed as a commercial battery. I was hoping to use an interstate battery from Costco, but they don’t shown one that fits a F100. Obviously I can use what ever is adequate to crank the engine, but my first choice is something more or less stock that won’t cost an arm and a leg. What are you guys using?

I usually go for the highest CCA I can get, as long as it fits in the battery tray. No clue as to dimensions on original battery. I like Interstate Batteries, they’re good and sold nationwide. However, I put in one from NAPA that is nearly all black, and not as bright as the green/white Interstate cases, so looks better, in my opinion. If you want it looking old school, there is at least one vendor that sells kits to make your battery more period correct appearing, using decals. Cannot recall who, but another member posted up info, perhaps he’ll see this thread and re-post the info.

I don’t really care about the period correct as far as looks, only size wise. Maybe if I go to a NAPA store, they can be more helpful than online.

Group 24F is what I use. I'm not sure if it fits properly with the stock hold downs, measure and see.

Good link here, thats the conclusion that I’ve come to by checking around. The group 29 is gonna be the one I’m looking for. Hopefully I can find one without paying an arm and a leg. It’s the right length and I can use the hold down. that wedges with the bumps close to the bottom.

The 24F is probably what most places would sell. A little small for the clamp I’m using. Searching for a group 29 for under $200.

Due to inflation, the cost is now an arm and a leg and your left nut.

True but some are both arms and legs!😬

I think I might try a 27F group, it’s 12 1/2” long as opposed to the 13” of group 29 and I can get more CCA options with it.
