Battery missing

Picked up a 59 missing a lot of stuff. Battery is one. Can I get some info on what correct battery to buy. I read group 27 and also positive and negative are opposite. Any insite would help.

Are you using the original setup to secure it? If so, just look up the dimensions of a group 27 battery which are 11Lx7.3Wx9.3H and measure your battery tray to see if it fits properly. I have been using the NAPA version for about 15 years with good results.

The group 27 will fit some trays and, I believe, was an option on certain or larger trucks. It's possible it originally was a 27R with reversed terminals but that battery no longer exists. Group 29 was the original base battery for our trucks.
