Have a 2020 F250 CCSB with the 6.2L. Mine has a resonator over the rear axle past the muffler. Doesn't sound like all trucks do? Reason asking is I want to cut the exhaust for an axle dump but with that little resonator I just don't want to introduce drone. There's 2 other resonators and a muffler besides it so I'd assume I should be fine but curious why its there and others that don't have it?

Sometimes I just can't help myself so I just did it. Cut off right at the top of the resonator and installed the tip that came from my chrome package on it. Turned out really nice and tucked up there where you can't really see it at all. Driving it for 10 min i havent noticed any droning. Only noise difference is at idle with exhaust bouncing off the ground and a very slight drone from 1500-2000rpm while in park. But I never do that was just testing it out so shouldn't have any issues.
As much as I know people do this...it is a great way to introduce accelerated rust to your undercarriage. Exhaust gasses and moisture are trapped under the bed and don't evacuate very well. No, it shouldn't hurt your box if you have an aluminum one, but it WILL lead to accelerated rust once it starts.
I know this because I have done it in the past. It's not good for your truck.
You make a good point i didn't think about that. I can easily reweld it on so no big deal there. Just wanted something different for the exit than how they do. I might have my old exhaust still from my 6.0 that is 3.5" maybe I can put something together to get a better exit.
Edit: yup found my old banks monster duals exhaust from my 6.0. 3.5" pipe so i can put something together better looking im pretty sure with a good exit.

Thanks to your insight I now have put together something I like. A more normal side exhaust exit compared to the factory rear corner exit. Just gotta weld the pipes together and its good to go.
Mine was gone with a back pipe change and it didn’t make a difference not having it.
Thanks for the feedback. Mine definitely did change some without it but assuming it was just the echo more so off the ground than the actual resonator being gone.
So for anyone doing this or even if you put it straight out the back be careful if you transport animals in the bed! I have a good friend who killed two of his dogs on the 2 hour trip to his cabin.
OP, that looks good! I haven't really paid attention to what the gas truck exhaust exit looks like, but I'm not overly fond of how my 6.7's looks. At some point I'm going to get a different filter-back exhaust...I just don't have time right now.
The comment above is also something to be mindful about - because of how air flows over an open truck box, when driving down the road the air in the box doesn't really get changed out very well. Yes it moves around but it doesn't get a steady flow of fresh air. So any exhaust gasses that get stuck in that 'bubble' will STAY there. On a long enough trip, that can be lethal.
