So I have a 95 f150 XLT 5.0. I recently changed both fuel pumps because they were overflowing and I have had the pumps for a few months now. I don't know if this problem has anything to do with the new pumps because they seem to be running great no overflowing and improved gas mileage. But these last few weeks I have tried to start it and its like its getting no fuel and I swithed between rear and front tank a few times and it finally starts. The pump switch is about 2 years old I had to replace it because it broke. Does this sound more like a bad switch problem or bad fuel pump? Or something else entirely. Thank you
You should take note when you are first starting the truck, put the key to "on" and see if you hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds or not.
I will double check but the sound you are talking about is the humming sound when you turn the key right? Because I usually turn the key then start it and I hear the pump humming and turn on.
If you hear the pump running then you should next check the fuel pressure.
Okay I can hear both pumps hum when I turn the key with the engine off, I will look into how to do that not quite sure how though. But I believe its the cheap tank switch.

Well yesterday I think my question was answerd about what part of the problem is I was leaving work and the front tank is overflowing so the front tank was a cheap made one and the check valve is already failed. So imma fix that and then change the tank switch out if it doesn't fix my problem
So I did replace the front pump because it was overflowing again and went ahead and got another selector switch why I was there and that did not fix my problem. It still is turning over but not wanting to start. Now I'm fighting another problem it seems like every time I change one pump the other ones check valve goes bad soon after. I read somewhere that it could be your fuel pressure regulator so I checked fuel pressure after I changed the regulator and the front tank is 40psi and rear at 39psi. So my fuel pressure is good. But since now I but a new pump in the front, got this one from a local Napa instead of online its a Delphi, the rears overflowing again. What's got me is the stating problem only happens on the rear tank is selected, it never does it in front tank. So could it be probable that its been going bad causing this problem even though I hear it prime when I turn the key? I'm kind of stumped here
