Ambient temp sensor?
So today was on a long haul with flatbed and an 80s/90s 1 ton on the trailer. Fuel mileage sucked for such a light load (7mpg with 7500lb trailer, got 10 last year basically same load in similar terrain) and when I stopped for gas and shut it off, on restart got CEL with P0111 code for IAT bank 1. Was running like crap so turned it off checked all connectors and harnesses and cleared codes and reset KAM with xcal2 and ran same as before. Doesn’t seem to be lack of power but mileage still terrible so went to O’Reilly right before close and bought IAT sensor and MAF sensor to have for morning (both cheap crap parts since no motorcraft in stock) Weird thing is that I plugged in OBD link and pulled up IAT and ambient air temp on my phone. IAT never read less than 20* over outside temp,ok hot day and towing, was 95 outside going through STL and cooled down to 80 in KC but even on the highway going 70mph the IAT was 130 and dropped to 100 when stopped for the night. The outside temps I gave are based on what the in dash display read.
However the ambient air temp which I got from the SAE PID menu started at 18 when I began and slowly climbed to read 83 when I shut off. Is this a calculated value from other sensors? Again this value did not match the in dash value which I believe to be correct or very close based on weather app. Thanks in advance
Whatever sensor is way out of range is the one I would be looking at first.
