Hi all, just got my '04 FX4 SCrew on the weekend with 65000kms. The only problem (so far) I have, it the mini message board is telling me its 40C outside. It rarely falls below 37. The actual temp outside is 20C so I am assuming the sensor is pooched.
Canadian dealer price is $175. I saw on another thread to go to NAPA but they say its a dealer part and dont have.
My question is, if I didnt repair this, does it interfere with any other settings like fuel mixture etc.....
I am going to push back on the person I bought it from but want to know my options.
I am an electrican and can take some resistance readings if I knew what the specs were.
Anyway......will it damage/change anything if it is reading 10 degrees higher?
Thanks
edit: ps. What is that other sensor located just below the ambient temp sens. It is about 2 inches below mounted on the same bracket? Curious.
the ambient air temp that reads on the dash is only for the dash, the maf sensor calculates intake air temp and that is what is used for engine performance, so you are ok!
I believe the other sensor is an impact sensor for the air bag system
Ok...thanks for the reply. Good thing I didnt bang the airbag sensor around too much.
As far as the ambient air goes I will try to get it replaced. I read somewhere the specs are 8k-14k ohms when its 65-80 degress and my readings were no where near that.
