yea, i know what you mean about the max life stuff, autozone can't keep it on the shelves, the regular valvoline has the same problem. i always call ahead now to see if they have it and to get them to hold a case for me.
Thanks for the complements, nice to here every once in awhile... especially with all my familly and friends telling me how much they hate it and that i should sell the truck for something practical! i am practical in everything else i do! this is my one vice, and i love it!
I haven't seen a full-size stepside in a long time in that age group.
Yeah, that incident at Autozone was really funny. I wish life were that exciting all the time. Then again, in my head it usually is. LOL.
switched to a hp-1 oil filter a couple of weeks ago and havent had a problem since. Cheap filters mybe the culprit. interesting about the oil subject. I have always prefered oil in the engine oposed to all over the road. I guese I will be checking out the max life. Thanx
You know in this case, I really like this 400. She actually keeps the earl to herself. After the new aluminum intake was put on, she blew the back gasket near the sending unit. With some lighter pockets, my mind is at ease. No more leaks of any kind. But I have noticed some wet areas on back of tranny output shaft. This 31-year old Ford engine with 103,000 original miles is the first and so far only engine with no leaks. And she seams very happy with Valvoline Maxi-Life. So here is my possible accessment, oil light came on not by fault of mains which I know are good, but that previous oil had thinned so much that it could not support itself let alone build pressure. Might as well had been lubricating with water.
Now why do I want to sell this prized poccession? Cause I bet I look silly driving it. That is until I come to a stop at a red light, and I look at the 19-year old kid next to me in a candy wrapper running on NOS. And here I am sitting in grandmas last ride, patiently waiting for the christmas tree to turn green. The kid looks over to me, points and laughs me under the table. Then the tree goes green and I plant my foot on the throttle, and I notice the smile disappearing from the kids face as he gets smaller in my rear view mirror. The whole time, I'm laughing my a** off. I slow down before the next light to give him time to catch up. Of course I just smile as he's throwing me the bird. Thats the magic I get from this car and with Valvoline in my engine, it will get many more opportunities to show the kids who's boss.
