For those of you that have Fox 2.0 shocks or steering stabilizer (single only) How are they holding up? I've always been under the impression that Fox stuff is good solid and smooth but relatively short lifespan compared to Bilstein.
Bilstein said they have no steering stabilizer for the F450. Fox does, but I don't want to drop $250 yearly for a new one. The rebuild idea is a joke though its 80% of the cost of new.Whats the point? Can i expect 5+ years or 75k miles out of the Fox 2.0 stabilizer?
it's not lifted, stock tire size, no offloading.
According to the lady at Fox, these are longer than stock units and limit turning radius on the F450. It says it fits.
why claim it fits then loose turning radius on the truck after its installed? It's 1.5" longer than the stock piece extended and 1.2" longer compressed. The lady from Fox said they have had issues with it limiting wheel cut and said generally stay less than an inch from the factory one.
This is the one i was looking at.
I bought my 2020 F350 SRW truck used with 150K miles. Four inch lift, 37 in tires, Fox shocks front and back, Fox steering stabilizer (2 shocks). I was passing somone the other day, looked down, and I was doing 95. Felt like I was doing 70. Good luck.
I have the fox dual steering stabilizer shocks and the fox steering damper….they are two different solutions for different aspects of operation
the steering stabilizer shocks control damping of wheel ocsilation from left to right …needed less on new suspensions and needed more on older suspensions or modified ones such as larger wheels, etc.
the steering damper is a bumpsteer solution.
they both terminate at different parts of the suspension and do different things.
i never hear that blistien out last fox. Blistien is a box store shock for in band use and fox is a professional shock for extreme use.

thats a factory replacement steering damper…there are length constraints
for steering stabilizers typically dual there are also length constraints and those constraints can vary depending on the dual mounting kit being used …I bought a set of common dual steering stabilizers and shocks from the same reseller and found the shocks to be .5 inches too short based on the install instructions. Bought a different shock from the same source and while the lengths of the new shocks met the install instructions….i think they are still short…sometimes they pull the outer mounts out of position which would not be possible if the extension was adequate…..and it looks like there is a relationship to too long and gearbox mounting bolt stripping becuase of pulling on compression. I’m not really sure if I was sold the. Correct setup for my use case..are what I have for an f-459, an f-350 DRW, or for srw’s don’t know and I’m not sure the seller knows. . So I’m going to change the mounting setup to a Stryker off road one…doesn’t rely on gearbox bolt mounting ….uses a very wide axle bracket.
Joe,
maybe, I'm just not into them.
I've created several threads about this and it seems to dead end quickly.
might be a longer discussion over on the 99 thru 16 section. Those trucks are on the road longer and change hands more frequently .
this section of the forum flip there trucks before the 5 year warranty is up and they don’t spend much upgrade money in there trucks and even try to squeeze the max length possible out of oil and batteries. Very little institutional knowledge on aftermarket shocks.
The Monroe Magnum is the only stabilizer with OEM dimensions. The rest are longer or short with less travel range than the oem. Will 1.5" on compression and 1.5" extended be noticeable? Several companies list the Fox or the Bilstein 5100 as to fit the 11-24 F450 wide track but dimensions are WAY off from the factory.
I have the Fox 2.0 on my F-350 w/35's, around 5 years and70k miles on it and love it. The seller added a note to open the Shrader valve and let the gas out of it prior to install (you don't want pressure as this may create pull in the steering) as you simple want hydraulic damping.
