Start/Stop Button Killswitch?

I am considering putting a killswitch between the start button (start/stop) on my 2022 F250. Purpose is to disable the start stop button itself with a hidden switch. This should maintain remote start as well as protect the truck from being stolen with a cloned keyfob unless the secret/hidden killswitch is enabled.
Am I missing something with this or what speaks against it? I do not like the Ravelco dongle solution as I find it too ugly and too cumbersome from an ease of use perspective.

"Powerstroke Tech Talk" from YouTube has a great kill switch for sale. I don't believe he markets it openly because he doesn't want thieves to find out how to reactivate the vehicle. If you go to his Youtube page and click on "about" you can go down to business inquires and get his email and contact him about it. Its a great solution

There's whole other thread on this somewhere on this forum. People had some ideas and posted pictures of switches they planned to use, etc. but no one actually posted where or how these devices were going to be installed.
Some suggested interrupting the ignition and other suggested interrupting the fuel supply.

I have Ravelco. It’s no more of an inconvenience than flipping a switch and a lot more effective. I had them mount it under the dash near the OBD port utilizing an existing screw/hole so no additional drilling was done. Nice clean install.

Don't you have to press the brake pedal to allow the push button start to function? I wonder if the brake switch circuit might be easier to access/less of an issue to interrupt than the push to start button?

I had Aaron PTT install one on my 2020. Immobilizes the truck.

Here is a very simple solution that cost about $20. i install one of these is a car in a high crime area. no one figured it out. It's so simple all you have to do is hold the hi-beams on while starting the vehicle.

Is it easy to operate? You don't have to get into much detail since the bad guys could be watching. lol

I considered his & talked with him about it. Only problem is that it disables your remote start as well.

That was a trade off. I never use remote start and feel safer knowing truck is immobile

I’m an IT guy by trade, and I dabble a little with project boards and robotics - I do just a little, but I know a little.

So long as a physical fail-safe option exists, I would love to see a proximity-based switch to interrupt power to the starter. This could be NFC or Bluetooth from a phone, watch, or unique token of some sort. Just being present should automatically serve as a second authentication factor allowing you to crank the motor.

There are several commodity project boards which are 5v DC that could power a relay to do this. I need to think this through and do some research (in my spare time).

Question: What is your insurance deductible? I have, in my experience, found that all the anti-theft devices do is aggravate. So, do I want a large single aggravation event or constantly have to fiddle with something every time I want to move the vehicle? Over the last 30 years, I have not had my cars stolen. Am I going to install kill switches in all my cars? Probably not. If it is stolen, I drive the other ones and let the insurance companies deal with it. I paid so THEY worry and I sleep in peace. If I had to worry, I would save the money for the comprehensive part of the insurance and worry.
