I wouldn’t be surprised to find out you have an issue in the connection, wiring harness, or the MLPS it self.
Unless it was recently serviced / replaced by someone, or bumped from underneath, I doubt it moved.
Intermittent to me sounds like a bad connection somewhere, possibly internal on the MLPS or wiring harness as well.
I’d pull the plug out and see if any of the pins are corroded, broken. Or swap a new MLPS in, make sure it is indexed correctly.
