I have a 88 ford f150 5.0 and we got the truck and it was efi and had a blown head gasket so we fixed the blower head gasket and put a carburetor on it with a new different distributor and I have a ton of cut wires the are coming from the cab and I have a green wire coming out of the distributor I know that’s for the tachometer and my question after all that is what’s the color of the signal wire coming from the rpm gauge and do I just connect it to the green wire coming out for the distributer ? Thanks!!

Should be a Dark Green/Yellow wire going to the factory tachometer (right side of this diagram):
The factory tach on the V8 trucks had a series limiting resistor for some reason. That resistor is located in the engine bay. An aftermarket tachometer most likely does not require that resistor. Refer to the OEM documentation.
