LOL, Yes I have the same frustrations about the CPP single flared ends. I can't remember what that hose kit cost me, as it was several years ago I ordered it, and it turned out to be unusable. One thing I might do is get 45 degree angled ends where the hoses connect to the sector valve. The ports at least to the RAM stick out 45 degrees, so with using a straight fitting it will stick out and rub into the tire on good left turn. On mine the PO bent his fitting necks 45 degrees to make them a straight run so they would get more clearance to the tire but he also kinked them a little doing that
As far as a power steering pump, I am running a 69 302 so I am using what the PO installed. The early 60's style Ford/Thompson pump. It seems to work pretty well.
