E Series Hood Supports

I've posted this before. Has anyone more clever than me come up with a workable solution to the later model (steel hood) E series hood lift/support system? I see the aftermarket has lots of offerings for the Mercedes Sprinter hood with gas strut kits to replace the prop rod but the Ford hood is far heavier and no one seems to have found a way to retrofit any sort of assist for them. The older I get, the more taxing getting the hood open and propped are! So many vehicles of all stripes have gas strut supports (and some even have power lifts). I really think there is a large market for whoever can crack the problem. I would pay quite a bit for something to ease my struggles but would expect it to be well engineered and durable.
