Royal Purple
Motor oil bible rated this oil at best mid pack............is this correct????
Either way, Royal Purple is a *very* good oil, as is Redline and even Amsoil, IMO. As far as for regular engine use, I think any of the above is overkill.
However, for differentials/transfer cases, I say go all out - they only take 2-3 qts each and the oil's going to be in there for a while, so why not give it the best?

I haven't heard that Naval terminalogy in a while but it might confuse those having very been around it. Scuttlebutt means rumors to those non-Navy/Marine personal. I agree though with what you said about Differentials. Average fluid change is between 70,000 to 100,000 miles. Mine needs to be changed and I am rolling on 207,000 original miles on my F-150. I might throw it in my transmission too, since the Ford manual transmissions don't need to be changed except at every 7,000 to 10,000 miles.
