I've been using Valvoline Premeium Blue Diesel in my truck. Curious what others use. Anyone here use that Rotella?

My shop uses Rotella in almost all diesel engines we work on . Only a few customers request other oils like Mobil or Schaffer oil . I have been there almost 14 years . We have Never had an oil related breakdown . I am sure there are better oils , but , I have never seen an issue with Rotella .

Favorite oil: Synthetic and darn near free. I never got the "darn near free" part that some members here were able to fenagle out of AutoZone's sale last month (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck Full Synthetic 5W-40 for $1.00 per quart!), but many of us were able to get the "near free" price of $13 per gallon, as opposed to the normal retail price of $30 per gallon. When paying only $3 or $1 per quart for synthetic, compared to $8, the arguments for which synthetic is "better" fade away into funds in the wallet.

I've run just about everything. Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w40 is what I run all the time now.

Back when I ran dual HPOP's, it's the only oil that would hold up over 5,000 miles with far more to go. That's pretty much what sold me.

I've alway had good luck with Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic. I've run it in almost every diesel I've owned, Cat, Cummins, and my pickup.

We have a few million miles on 7.3s running only 15-40 Rotella. I currently run Rotella 5-40 synthetic. However, I feel like the oil debate is apples to apples. You're in good hands with the Valvoline, and I'm willing to bet they make a great product with the backing of a company with the track record and reputability of Cummins.
For me, it's just a if it ain't broke, don't fix it thing. Although I've thought of switching to Schaffers at times.

Another Premium Blue user here too. The regular 15w - 40, not the Extreme.

Schaeffer's 15W-40 synthetic blend since 2007 in my F-250 has always yielded excellent Used Oil Analysis reports for me......

Rotella for me since price is ok and its easy to find; synthetic 5w-40 in winter (huge cold start improvement) and 15w-40 when weather is warm.

Don't think brand matters much as long as you're using cj-4 (ci-4plus) diesel spec oil - stick with whatever works.
