Question Has anyone used HOT SHOT'S SECRET?

Has anyone used HOT SHOT'S SECRET The Original Stiction Eliminator oil treatment?

I changed oil yesterday and added this to my oil to see if it would do anything. I have no known issues, but figured since the truck is still new to me it couldn't hurt to use it.

If anyone has used it I would love to hear if it did anything good or bad for you.

Really?! You must have done some research 1st, please say so. The local autoparts store has a whole set of shelves just waiting for someone to try it all "because what could it hurt".

RevX seems to be the more popular snake oil for stiction, but then again you have no symptoms so why not throw some of that in too...

Sorry, just had a biff with the wife so I'm in a bad mood <RANT mode off>

I currently have it in my truck. I feel it is just snake oil. Tractor supply had it on sale, so I figured WTF......So far I got nothing to report.

HSS will work under a narrow set of conditions. If the only issue is varnish on the spool valve it will help.

Sticton

I had stiction issues with 03 ex last winter and added hot shot and with in 4 days stiction was gone . That was with Rotella 15 /40.Now flip ahead to Sept 1st I did an oil change to Rotella 15 /40 S and within 2 days stiction is back . What a coincident . Pulled the codes and I have 3 Injectors with issues . So tomorrow I gonna dump the oil and go back to regular 15/40.....

I've got the Hot Shot in my truck with Delo 15W/40. I didn't have any stiction issues but wanted to throw it in as a preventive measure as it claims that it helps clean things up. Honestly, I'm not sure if it is doing anything at all. I bought it when I got my FICM (with Atlas 40) from FICMrepair.com. I installed both at the same time. Truck runs great but I couldn't tell you if the Hot Shot is helping.

I've read a bunch of threads on the Rev-X & the Hot Shot's. As in anything, there seems to be a lot of different opinions on both. From what I've read, both products seem to help if you have stiction issues - while you have it in the oil. If you want to continue to have the benefits, you need to add it each oil change.

There is another product out there called Archhoil 9100 that guys are talking about on a couple of web pages. Apparently, it works pretty good too. In addition to it's lubrication properties, the product claims to have "AR9100 contains various esters which dissolves carbon and varnish,a solution for Powerstroke injector stictionwhich is the accumulation of carbon and varnish deposits in the injector spool valve resulting in a performance drop, hard starts, drop in fuel economy, injector failure, etc. AR9100 resolves these problems." There are some photos of engine parts that look super clean after having run the product. Like the other products, you need to add it every oil change to reap the benefits.

I've been running Delo 15W/40 since I bought this truck new in 2004. I'll be trying the T6 5W/40 the next change. I plan to run the oil by itself initially. Depending on how it does, I might try adding the Archoil 9100.

In viewing various forums and comments it seems the general consensus today is Archoil is the clear leader is helping curb injector stiction.

I have tried HSS twice over the years with ZERO change in cold start up and warm running.
I Currently running fresh AMSOIL 15W40 and am NOT impressed, back to Shell.
I am doing exactly the same as 2civicrr. 5W40 T6 syn, and after debating between REV-X and Archoil, have ordered some Archoil 9100.

I had a bad case of stiction and used HSS. It took a while but it cleared it up. I think it works really good and would use it again if needed. I'm now using Archoil 9100. I'm on my 2 nd oil change with Archoil and just this morning notice a slight miss. If it continues I'LL use HSS again.
