The alignment shop wasn’t going to try and fiddle with getting the truck in spec, so I guess I need to get a kit to make it easier. My question, is there a need to spend high dollars on a kit. There seems to be several choice out there.
I read in another thread here that it’s pretty difficult to get it right without the kit. Trial and error work? The reason stated here (FTE) was that it takes too much fiddling for shops to do
it and the standard alignment charge wouldn’t cover their time. I have a tool, but I don’t feel proficient at the work, so I opted for farming it out. It may be just as much work to put the kit it.
Go to real alignment shop. Not afast food tire shop.
To me the trithy part is steering. Im assuming have to knock steering end links off set camboe then fin tune steering to new location.
Im running upper control arms for a 2-4" lift because of this loweres moved a ton. Got no complaints from alignment guys or recommendations for cambor kit.
He did mention he was unablw to get casger thecsame on each side. A degree off. I go its problt your machine. Tokd him if it drivex straight and returns to center im good. And it does
if you have a ken Worth or a Peterbilt shop call them and explain what you have going on and you're looking for a good alignment Tech or shop they'll probably have a few options
I checked with a The Alinement Shop and they tell me they just use a come-along to pull control arm out and tap back to spec. Also told me the kits are pretty crappy and don’t really help make the adjustment. Their price is comparable to the tire shop, so next time I’ll just go there. I think I’ll try it myself this time. Thanks for your input
